If you share our vision for improving our community, neighborhood, appeal, and city, we encourage you to get involved today! Below are some ideas for how you can get involved, but there are endless possibilities. If you have a passion to serve your community in a way not listed below feel free to contact us directly and we’ll do our best to help you make it happen!
BECOME/JOIN A BLOCK CONNECTOR
What is a block connector? Glad you asked! Block Connector is the title we have given to neighbors living in Westcore who are interested in doing just a little bit extra to be involved on their block. Interacting with neighbors will allow you to be an advocate for neighbors in need when needed, informing neighbors about community resources when needed, and bringing neighbors together to develop a sense of safety and community on your block. Block Connectors can also attending monthly gatherings for connecting with, encouraging, and equipping other block connectors. Block Connectors are encouraged to volunteer at events such as the Thanksgiving Meal or WestFest.
Here at Westcore Neighbors, we deeply value our block connectors for their efforts, passion for community, and involvement in what we are doing to serve people in our community! Anjuli, your Neighborhood Connector at Westcore, has supporting and resourcing Block Connectors at the top of her priority list and would love to meet you if you are at all interested in learning more about who we are, becoming a Block Connector, or even figuring out who your Block Connector is.
Our vision and hope for our neighborhood is to have one Block Connector on each of our blocks. That means we need neighbors like YOU! Contact us today to learn more, OR join us at our next Block Connector meeting! Our BC gatherings are on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. and the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00p.m.

HOUSING
This team has passion around neighbors using the time, talents, and resources that they have to work together to make and maintain the Westcore neighborhood as an affordable and desirable place to live for all families including moderate and low income renters and homeowners.
NEIGHBOR INTERACTION
When asked how our neighborhood can be better, many people reply that it would be better when people knew each other and were doing life together. How can you address this on your block? Consider becoming a block connector.
SAFETY
Do you have ideas of how to make the neighborhood a safer place to live? Gather neighbors around your idea, create a plan of action, and Westcore will help you accomplish your goal.
BEAUTIFUL NEIGHBORHOOD
Do you care about how the parks, lawns, and streets look? Do you have an idea that would help a neighbor maintain their lawn? Do you have an idea that would help beautify a park or street? Share your idea with us. Gather a group. Together we can make something happen.
YOUTH ACTIVITY
Do you care about the neighborhood youth and their friends having a positive activity for their time? Ask them what they would like to see be available for an activity. If this is something you are passionate about, let us help you and the youth get something started.
TOPICAL INTEREST
Is there a topic that you care about and want to educate others about? Do you want to be a part of a book club, take a crocheting or knitting class, lead a Bible Study, or begin a social justice group? Whether you meet once, weekly, or monthly, feel free to gather neighbors around that topic that interests you and let us help you spread the word.

HOST/JOIN IN A GROUP/EVENT AT NUESTRA CASA
Get together with others from the neighborhood around something you find interesting, important or fun! Nuestra Casa is a space for you (our neighbors) to use! Learn about how you can reserve the house for your next private, public, social, or business gathering by contacting us via phone or email. The house is wonderful for gatherings up to 30 people for sharing information, doing activities together, hosting new friends, eating, cooking, teaching, or for fellowship.
VOLUNTEER FOR A PROJECT OR EVENT
Get dirty with others and lend a hand! Check out our CALENDAR to stay up to date on when our next volunteer day will be. If you have a handy skill that you would like to make available to neighbors in need, please contact us to let us know so that we can connect you to neighbors in need!
WESTFEST and at our annual Thanksgiving Potluck. We need more neighbors helping to plan leading up to these big events every year. We also need lots of people who are willing to show up and volunteer at the events to make it happen. To learn more, email Anjuli! Thanks!

Don’t want to get involved in an official capacity? No problem, we get it! We encourage you to get out and get to know those living around you, though! We live in a beautiful city and wonderful neighborhood and wouldn’t want you to miss out!

Find out what’s happening in OUR neighborhood directly from neighbors online. Nextdoor is our neighborhood social network. We post all upcoming event information and notices which are important for neighbors. Once you have joined, you are also welcomed to post specifically to reach out to residents in our actual neighborhood. It is a valuable resource.
