About Westcore Neighbors

Westcore Neighbors is a resident-led neighborhood network in the heart of Holland, spanning 14th to 24th Streets and River to Ottawa Avenues. Since 2009, neighbors, churches, businesses, and local organizations have worked together to build a more connected, welcoming, and vibrant community.

At its core, Westcore is about relationships. We believe strong neighborhoods are built when people know one another, show up for each other, and take shared responsibility for the place they call home.

Our Vision

We are committed to cultivating a neighborhood where people genuinely care for one another. By sharing time, talents, and resources, we aim to create a place where everyone can thrive. because life is better together!

How We Work

Our approach is simple and consistent:
listen, connect, and act.

Listen – We prioritize hearing directly from neighbors about what matters most.

Connect – We create opportunities for relationships to grow across cultures, generations, and backgrounds.

Act – We support neighbor-led ideas and initiatives that strengthen community life.

This rhythm shapes everything we do, from small block gatherings to larger neighborhood events. At its core, Westcore is about relationships. We believe strong neighborhoods are built when people know one another, show up for each other, and take shared responsibility for the place they call home.

Our Story

Westcore Neighbors began in December 2009, when five residents came together with a shared belief: the neighborhood would be stronger if neighbors knew each other and spent more time together. What started as a simple conversation quickly grew into a movement.

Early partnerships with local churches and organizations like Good Samaritan Ministries helped expand community listening efforts and provide initial support. By 2011, a formal board was established, and in 2013, Westcore became a registered nonprofit.

From the beginning, the work has been shaped by neighbors themselves, through conversations, shared experiences, and a commitment to building something meaningful together.

What This Looks
Like Today

Westcore Neighbors continues to foster connection through a variety of neighbor-driven activities and traditions:

Neighborhood gatherings like 5K races, yoga classes, community yard sales and seasonal events

Block parties that bring neighbors together on a smaller scale

Annual traditions like the Thanksgiving Potluck, where hundreds gather to share a meal

Community events like Good Neighbor Celebration and citywide collaborations

Each of these reflects the same foundation: neighbors creating spaces for connection and belonging!

A Neighborhood
Built by Neighbors

Everything we do is rooted in the idea that the best ideas come from within the community. Westcore Neighbors exists to support, connect, and amplify those ideas, helping residents and local partners work together for the good of the neighborhood.
