There’s a lot of life and energy in Westcore and Washington Square right now, and we’re excited about what’s happening! At the same time, we know there are more stories to hear, more ideas to discover, and real challenges that neighbors and local businesses are navigating every day. Because of that, we’re bringing together a group of neighbors to spend some time investing in hearing from the community so that we can support and celebrate neighbors and businesses and meet actual, real needs.
Starting in June, the Core Collective team will beging reaching out to neighbors to learn about their experience living in the Westcore neighborhood. We’ll gather monthly to discuss what we’ve heard and from there on, we’ll collaborate to turn those conversations, relationships, and insights into meaningful action, leading the way for community change and connection by starting from the ground up!

The Core Collective is coming together for the first time on Sunday, June 7th from 5-7pm at Nuestra Casa, and there is still room for you! This is the kickoff for our five-month neighbor listening initiative, running June through October, where a small team of neighbors will go door to door across Westcore to hear what matters most to the people who live here.
At this meeting we will set our regular schedule, walk through the neighborhood survey and canvassing map, and start getting to know one another through a few group activities. If you came to our informational gathering, this is your next step! If you missed it, this is your last chance to join.
The Core Collective is open to anyone 18 and older who lives or works in Westcore: longtime residents, newcomers, business owners, and bilingual neighbors all welcome.

Through door-to-door connection, small teams of two will meet neighbors block-by-block to hear their experiences and learn what matters most to them. These conversations will be captured through our Neighborhood Survey, helping us recognize patterns, needs, and opportunities across the neighborhood.
