We have an exciting demonstration coming to our neighborhood! Beginning Wednesday, July 8th, and lasting for approximately two weeks, the City of Holland will be performing a bike lane demonstration on 17th Street. This pilot will help the city evaluate the possibility of installing a dedicated on‑street bicycle lane in the future.
Westcore Neighbors will be hosting a community bike ride on July 12th, led by board members Eric Kastelic and John Crawford! We’ll meet at Nuestra Casa (253 W 15th St, Holland, MI 49423) on Sunday, July 12th at 5:00 PM and ride the 17th Street demonstration route together as a group. We’ll circle back to Nuestra Casa to refill our water bottles and discuss our thoughts on the demonstration.
The City will also be hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd, from 5:00–6:00 PM at City Hall in the 1st Floor Council Chambers. If you prefer to join virtually, there will be a YouTube livestream of the 17th Street Bike Lane Public Forum. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snonMTgbNgw)
And make sure to check out the attached city pamphlet for more details — it includes a QR code where residents can submit feedback.
We hope to see you there and look forward to exploring this potential improvement for our neighborhood!
